Mythology for Modern Men

About
The Mythological Man

“I founded The Mythological Man as an outlet to infuse my one-on-one and group coaching with mythology, philosophy, Jungian psychology, and archetypes. Here, we strive to become more fully human. My journey is shaped by a passion for helping others, both as a coach for over a decade, and as a devoted, life-long student of mythology.”

The Mythological Man on Substack

Substack is the home for some of our most original thinking, including all the aspects of TMM: mythology, psychology, art critiques and analyses, philosophy, and practical advice for leading a heroic life.

Gorgonautica

Gorgonautica is an original, ongoing series written by Chadwick Ciocci, set in the broad world of ancient Greek mythology. Arestes and his brother Aresteon - sons of the war god Ares - battle man, beast, and gods on their epic journeys aboard a gorgon-headed ship, the Gorgonaut.

While in the larger genre of Greek myth retellings (with a focus on original characters), Gorgonautica is a sort of live, public, mythological journal. Stories are handwritten, then edited only for punctuation and corrections, and then published on SubStack.

The series is written for adults and children alike. Adults and lifelong students can explore themes of hope, despair, family, patriotism, war, man versus god, and so much more. Children will be exposed to these, too, but they will also enjoy cyclopes, pirates, and adventures that would please any boy or girl.

Ultimately, it serves as an example of one of the deepest guided practices we offer: writing original stories (mythical, fantasy, science fiction, etc.) as creative catharsis, followed by analytical reflection.

Symposiums:

Small Book Groups

Chadwick has been hosting book groups for many years, from real estate industry-focused ones to ones on leadership, as well as philosophical ones. Fortunately, colleagues and new friends kept coming back. In fact, these book groups are the historic foundation of The Mythological Man Symposiums.

Each symposium (AKA, in-person or virtual book clubs) is limited to 10 participants, who must commit to reading the entire work and actively participating in the discussion sessions. Most books are read over 2 meetings covering 6-8 weeks.

Check out some of our regularly occurring symposiums below.

TMM

Library

The Library is one of the most beloved resources at TMM. It is a central source of works that inform our work, personal learning, and, at times, the very foundations of TMM.

You will find recommendations on Jungian psychology, archetypes, mythology, business, personal development, and so much more.

Reading is fundamental to personal growth and all TMM activities.
